FEBRUARY RUNDOWN.

WELP last month sure was a thing that happened, amirite? But fear not, February will be fairly low-key to give y'all some breathing room until the next horrible thing happens. Read on for details!

You know how the story for the month begins: AC due by Feb. 5; apps open Feb. 1-7. New recruits and veterans alike will then spend Feb. 7-10 10-13 at NAPs. This month's sessions will be held at Dualis Danger Lock, an exciting new entertainment venture of skill, teamwork, and investigation. That's right, Dualis now has its very own escape room ... because the city itself wasn't enough of an escape room to begin with, apparently.

Following last month's Heart executions, the Head's decided to step up the dickery a bit in order to discourage anyone remaining who still has cute ideas about insurrection. Throughout the entire month of February, there will be an intermittent shutdown of the auto-translate function of that pesky chip that's embedded in your skull. Why? Just to prove that y'all are under the Head's thumb. It's less of a show of force and more of a subtle warning that if you step out of line, the Head will not hesitate to step into your head. Have fun trying to figure out what the hell everyone's talking about while the chips go haywire! Participation is optional, of course.

And that ... is really all we mods have planned for this month. February is a short month and there's still plenty to unpack from January's events. And we'd love to hear what YOU have planned - tell us about what you've been working on and what you want to do next! Weigh in below, and drop us any questions you may have.

If someone were to study the symbols down in the tunnels could they start slowly working out the old alphabet/language? Drifter is talking to Seifer in this thread and since Destiny is big on using symbols for puzzles and glyph languages Drifter would be interested.

Very curious about this! Jane's personality Dr. Harrison (who is a psychoanalyst with the power of hypnosis/suggestion, basically) would be very interested. I don't know if she could handle the roboclone programming on her own so it would be great if she could team up with someone who's good with that (Markus or maybe Tannis? etc.).

Whatever way works best, I'd love this to happen and would love to be involved.

Whoever interrogates Travis, Hank's gonna have some specific questions he wants to ask. I think he's probably going to ask Connor to do a little because he's seen how badass he is at it.

DID SOMEONE SAY INTERROGATION

Why, that's Connor's pet talent! By which I mean he was programmed to be a vicious little shit in an interrogation room. He doesn't like doing it much, but he will for the greater good (THE GREATER GOOD). Could be as part of a good cop, bad cop routine or a robot cop, supernatural/human/etc. cop routine, I'm down for working with anybody on anything to crack this guy o7

I had a question! Lorna has canon cyberpathy abilities. Now that they know about the chips would it be possible for her to figure out how to turn off part of the chip? She'd have to experiment with the chip first, so would that cause any sort of ramifications for the person she's experimenting on or to her for trying to?

Second question is if Arkady were to take hers out somehow, would she be able to use her abilities to either prevent herself from dying from the damage or to come back to life? In canon they can't permanently die, instead they just come back a few seconds later with a new power.

Thank you!!

SCANS

Drifter will be scanning whoever he finds that's willing to volunteer their head so he can see how the chip is rooted in. He'll leave the info at Rick's for whoever's doing the chip investigating.

ALSO:

Since Drifter is pretty technologically adept, could he possibly help remove chips on androids or AI or the like?

Have we tried an EMP? I feel like that's something Vergil would have taught Steph prior to his execution, and it shouldn't hurt humans if it's not at an extremely high level.

VIRUS

[personal profile] imaginary_wife 2020-01-28 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
Doc Yewll's gonna be doing some viral research. She's gonna wanna find anything to do with the old virus, she'll study the recording of the modified one, and she's probably going to keep track of clone samples so she can make a clone specific one. Whether it's used for liberation or massive self-defense depending on how she gets influenced. She might aim for both.

In her canon, she helped create something that was basically a zombie plague as a bio weapon. She is not proud of this, and would much rather use her abilities to do some good if she can.

Not precisely virus-related but since Doc Yewll's the doctor they're working with, I had a question. Jane came in with a small amount of opiate that can render superpowers ineffective when injected. She'd previously used this to self-medicate, but recognizes it could be helpful especially now that it's been shown the Head can use powers and abilities against people. I'm thinking Jane may be able to give her this sample to create an "if it's necessary" weapon, would that be something you're interested in?

MAEK WEPON

[personal profile] be_notorious 2020-01-28 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Drifter's still gonna make weapons with Seifer. They're gonna go live in a cave like hermits and make sharp things and bullet throwers. He's going to make a few teleporters for quick getaways.

If someone wants wepon then they can make wepon.

PARK RITUAL:

Drifter's also going to be doing a creepy Hive ritual in the park at some point to make a big ol' weapon core out of pain and hate. Something they can use to fight the Head since he's the one that caused it all. I think I have people up for performing the ritual and I need to see about getting the crystal out (I thiiiiink that might be covered?) but maybe people might want to help plot around using that.

Otherwise it's going to be an energy source for weapons that doesn't depend on the head.

Big emotions I'd like to discuss CR wise with characters:

-Hank's scared about not making it home, and he's doing his level best to keep his shit together. He's got a pretty solid plan of what he'd like to do, at least, and that's what's helping him hang on. If he cant grasp to that he'd probably just turn back into a drunken fucked up hopeless mess.

-Doc Yewll is generally a good person but seeing what the Head's done has her leaning on her darker, secretive impulses to be ready for anything. Girl has war stories, but they're a little difficult to get out of her.

-Drifter hates people intending violence towards him, and the Head's triggered that impulse. He has an attitude of 'it's better to survive than be moral, and don't trick yourself into thinking surviving makes you a good person or gives you any moral edge.' "Let's be bad guys," is his motto.

CHIP EXPERIMENTS!

[personal profile] ferrokinetically 2020-01-29 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Want to be in an experiment??

So Lorna's gonna try to figure out how to just severe certain parts of the chips. This means she needs volunteers other than herself to try to experiment on. There will be some side effects! So, want to volunteer your character???? Eventually she'll be able to figure it out but at first there's gonna be some complications. Nothing major (unless for some reason you'd like something permanent with your character in which case we can do that too!!) Would anyone be interested in signing up for that?

Arkady

Arkady is just going to take her chip out and die then come back coming up here soon. So if anyone wants to notice that or do something with it let me know. That is the extent of my plans here so let me know.
