DECEMBER RUNDOWN + preview of january.
Hello, Dualizens! As we move into the real endgame of 2019, we’ve planned another low-key month of fun activities as a background to CR building and player plottings. Again in December, AC won’t be waived entirely but reduced to five comments per character. As an incentive for those who wish to be more active, for every character that turns in full AC of 10 comments during these months, you will earn 1 AC token to be used on future activity check requirements - that is, if you have a month where you don’t call hiatus but also do not acquire 10 comments of activity, you can turn in an AC token instead of taking a strike. The fine print: tokens will be earned per character, no more than 2 total for each character over the next two months, and can be redeemed only for the characters that earn them, so no sharing.
The Heart once again remains silent this month, with no scheduled public sightings, calls to arms, or any other acts of rebellion. The mayor’s tip line is still open, however, the reward is still on offer, and there will be a city-wide reminder broadcast on December 14, along with another fun surprise. No creepy party this time! Read on for the big honkin’ details.
You know the drill: apps will be open December 1-7, with November AC due no later than December 5. Remember, you can always submit AC any time in the month before the due date!
Winter in Dualis is still fairly mild, with high temperatures hovering around 45F/7C and lows during the slightly longer nights dipping just below freezing, accompanied by chilly gusts of wind. There’s still very little precipitation, just a light dusting of snow that quickly melts in the sunshine a couple times during the month. Still, you may want to stock up on sweaters, a heavier coat, and warm beverages!
NAPs will be held this month in a nice cozy indoor environment, the just-opened Theronia Casino, a 12-story building that boasts amazing buffets and dozens of different types of gambling on each floor. From December 7-10, there’s a special treat for all attendees - free entry into that weeks’ Go Fish Tournament. (Yes, the card game Go Fish. Anything’s competitive if you try hard enough!)
On December 14, Mayor Marcelina once again takes to the airwaves to encourage anyone with any knowledge of the “terrorist group” known as the Heart to call in their tips and aid Dualis PD in apprehending these vile subversives who are intent on wrecking the Dualis way of life. The second part of her broadcast announces a city-wide draft for an important civic duty - as in, you’ve been drafted, and you have a task.

That’s right. There’s a chaotic goose on the loose, and it’s your job to capture it.
No one knows where this feathered menace came from, only that it appeared quite suddenly one day at the start of the month and has been terrorizing citizens and otherwise making noisy trouble ever since. Luckily, the mayor has launched an initiative to have this goose caught and brought to justice, and this city needs YOUR help … whether you actually want to help or not.
ICly, a random draft of citizens has been tasked with the important mission of chasing down this goose and bringing it back, alive, to Dualis PD. Sounds easy, right? Well … watch that video linked above to see what wild goose-chasers can expect to deal with on this mission. Oh, and if your name is picked, your participation is mandatory! But you won’t be alone - everyone who is drafted is paired with a partner, for safety and efficiency. May the odds be ever in your favor, brave heroes!
OOCly, participation is entirely optional. Sign up below by the end of the day on December 8 and we’ll RNG everyone into pairs. There will be only one pair that succeeds in capturing the wily goose, and we’ll RNG for that as well. Pairs and victors will be announced on December 10, and a mod-posted log will be provided for your goose hunting shenanigans on December 15.
Now, for that promised preview of January! In addition to the regular NAPs event, the city - and the game - will see a bit of a shakeup this month. Towards the middle of January, the Heart will once again call on our group of intrepid captives to join them in another meeting. You’ve all seen what they hinted at in the first meeting, that the machines are on a mission to kill everyone in the city, and some of the investigative types have uncovered even more information in the aftermath of the blackout and roboclone uprising. Joining their cause should be a no-brainer, right?
However, as it often turns out with best laid plans, things go incredibly awry at this meeting. Shortly before the previous meeting, the Heart lost its main tech support member, a ‘90s hacker film protagonist by the name of Travis, who was brutally murdered and replaced by a metallic doppelganger. But his memories were downloaded to the Head’s memory banks up to the point he was killed, so Travis-bot has an inside scoop on the Heart’s methods, plans, hideouts, etc. During this meeting, our pal Travis will bring a squad of Iterations to the meeting location, and most of the Heart’s leadership will be captured.
And a few days later, executed. In public. On a live broadcast.
YEAH. WE’RE GOING THERE.
Travis-bot will be captured in turn by a few motivated individuals who wish to attempt reprogramming the roboclones. More details on that in the full January rundown.
So! Remember how we promised player-driven outcomes for the game? The reason we’re giving everyone advance notice about what will happen in January is so you all have time to make plans for what the heck happens next. With the Heart leaderless and effectively dissolved, what path will your characters choose to take? Will you join the remaining Heart members in taking down the Head? Storm the Temple with your own faction? Try to negotiate with the roboclones or broker a peace agreement? The possibilities will be left in your hands. Try not to pick the bad end!
Please feel free to ask questions below and use this post as a place to plot things out amongst yourselves.

QUESTIONS.

I'm thinking considering how much Hank has bitched about the Heart's big gatherings (1 | 2 | 3 examples) and Hank and Connor already wore disguises, and since he stole walky talkies from Rick's, would it be possible for him to hang out somewhere disguised as a bum and send someone a warning message about iteration activity when he sees it, at least in enough time to spare some cast as necessary or be able to open an access tunnel to the underground for some people to make a getaway in since he was outside first?
Not enough to break plot, but enough to go, "Oh 'you might want to start being careful, something's up'" at least? Because ICly I truly think that keeping an eye out would be a thing he'd do.
-EDIT-
Adding in here I do remember people couldn't use their devices to text or chat during the meeting, so I know it might not be possible but these would be non-network devices and their tech guy is gone. And by bum I'm talking the puffy coat, the bottle of liquor, a scarf pulled up high, his own personal beanie to hide his hair, just using his janky old generic white guy powers for everyone's good and pretending a slump on a bench somewhere. So not necessarily an unlikely homeless guy, just actual unrecognizable levels of shabby.

and by cooked i mean don't let south be one of the winners because she will try to hide the goose to 'save' it and possibly sweater it up instead of turning it over to the pdno subject

-The meeting thing where he talked about it with a few. I'm really hoping they spread it. He picked the people he trusted most.
-He's looking for Travis and Suzaku to hopefully deprogram them/get at their info.
-He needs to get people to know about the chips.
-Arkady and Loki both have offered super helpful suggestions about secret meetings.
I'm hype for cooperation. Hit me up.

Actually, now that I think about it, she does get along pretty well with Squall, so she might go to Hank of her own volition if she finds out what the stakes are.
Anyway, yeah, Mira's horrible and has no problem killing, especially robots, but that's actually a useful skill right about now.

nick the former npc.
she can offer a space for meetings (that is actually safe) in the basement of rick's bar. there are a lot of security measures in place to access it, including emp warding, but it's not big enough for the types of meetings the heart held before, so that's why it wasn't available to use until now.
she can also offer booze. lots and lots of booze.
she's already infodumped all her useful bits of knowledge, mostly to hank, so i'd rather not rehash it all one on one with every other pc, because i will literally die. hank's been getting the word out, though, so it all eventually should become common knowledge among the other pcs. but if you have a specific question that wasn't answered already, i'm absolutely down to get nick talking. she has regrets about how the heart handled things and she's not committed to keeping secrets anymore.
OH RIGHT she's also been the point person for the heart commissioning some custom weapons from drifter. those would be available too. and she has knowledge of the underground system of tunnels that the heart used for traveling undetected.

Drifter's going to be happy to see those weapons get a work out. As much as he hates being shot at he'll be glad to provide cover for them getting out.

He would have shared some during Cloud's plot post earlier this month and will likely share more. As far as I can remember at the moment, he knows this at the time:
- people who die get sent to a factory and come back alive. Something about them feels a bit off.
- Memories can be taken when arrested as one of the more serious punishments.
- He's also alluded to talking to someone from the Heart. (not who or where specifically. He does say a bar.)
He also knows about what Hank shared in his meeting about there being chips in their head and that they're meant to be killed and replaced with clones. His close CR/people he likes can easily get the info and spread it as well.
