Player Plot: Avocado Uprising
Hello Dualis! I'm Shiro and I'm here to bring you an optional player plot. Spoilers: it's a coup at a grocery store.
On October 12, there will be an Avocado Festival at the eastern branch of Premium Foods, a premium grocery store that's known for being snooty and expensive. From October 7 onwards, residents will start seeing advertisements and marketing material with catchy phrases such as "Get your Guac On!" and "Life is the Pits, Take One with You." usually accompanied by a basket of squeaky light-up toy avocados with the Premium Foods logo. The festival will be a grand occasion with food sampling, games, events, a giant maze, cute robot mascots, a sale-- oh wait, no, it's the exact same prices labeled as a sale. (Some might even be marked up.)
An incident will happen around noon that will spark a change across the festival. An argument of some kind that ripples into physical and verbal altercations everywhere. Employees have had enough of the mismanagement and abuse! They're taking over until Premium Foods agree to their demands! Food fights ensue, event booths and store aisles are claimed as territory or trashed, people are getting lost in the avocado maze, exits will be barricaded, many will be trapped in the building while some held hostage (don't worry, the employees have no idea what they're doing), faction wars start up across the store, people are getting pushed around, a bartering economy of guacamole, water, and snacks emerge as the day progresses, some entitled shoppers still try to shop... Chaos! Yet in the midst of the inexperienced and rowdy rebels, someone is rallying them to keep the coup and negotiations on track — their unwitting and de facto leader, Squall Leonhart.
Cliff notes:
- Freeform chaos is a-okay during the post itself. Please do let me know before hand if someone ends up with an actual explosive so I can give the mods a heads up.
- Squall will be directing people around and issuing orders like it's an actual combat situation.
- The coup will last until early morning the next day, with livestream video, pictures, memes, and social media posts making it onto the Dualis network moments after the chaos begins. They'll call for people to come gawk, join in, or stay away.
- Characters can find ways to come and go despite the lockdown. There are entry and exit points scattered here and there. Other times the inexperience employees will let someone through when asked nicely.
- Official news reports are absent until later in the afternoon.
- Police will be present within the hour, with actual crowd control and iteration presence late in the afternoon. There will be no attempts to storm the store due to pressure from Premium Foods's higher ups and the presence of hostages.
- Police and iterations will move in to take control once negotiations end in the employee's favor (kind of) and Squall calls off the coup.
- Insert as many avocado jokes as you like.
- There will be roombas with knives.
Aftermath/Consequences:
- Players can have their characters arrested for participating or on suspicion for doing so, or have them escape.
- The punishment will be a fine and community service, the cost and length of which depending on severity of the offense.
- Premium Foods will promise better working conditions but actual conditions will remain shitty even with the slightly better pay and hours.
- Premium Foods will close for one day and resume regular operations the morning after.
- Current community service ideas: dressing up as various mascots (with face or identity visible) to help promote a good cause or clean up the streets of Dualis.
- Avocado prices go up.
Feel free to use this post for any plotting or questions or ideas! The main post will go up around October 12 (or the 11th because time zones).

Contact:
Character: Cloud Strife |
Log Plans: Cloud's not going to be in Premium Foods when everything goes down (It's too fancy for him- and the highly controversial free-coffee-with-purchase turning into 50 duos a coffee development was his fault) But when he hears about what's going down, he'll be teaming up with Seifer to do some looting. Namely, the coffee machine. Look for the two blonde scowling idiots
righting a wrong by stealingdragging a machine across the store, and you've found them.Otherwise, I imagine he'll be checking in on Squall while all of this is going down, and since he's a FF protag, he won't be able to turn away from any of the horrors of war that may be going on. No matter how ridiculous.
I'd really like to get him doing some cross-canon this month, since he's not that social and he tends to stay into his bubble. If anyone's got any characters that wouldn't mind running into him, hit me up!
